Service Description

Our Swona excursions last approximately 6-7 hours, with days and times varying based on the tides. These trips will take place either in the mornings or afternoons and are subject to weather conditions. We operate from St Margaret's Hope Pier, (beside Ferry Terminal) in South Ronaldsay, there are excellent bus services to our location from Kirkwall. Swona is located in the Pentland Firth, just south of South Ronaldsay. Access to the island is by boat, and while there are no facilities or services available, it attracts visitors seeking adventure and tranquillity in nature. Participants on our Swona trips should have good mobility, as they may need to climb over rocks to access the island and walk long distances along the coastline. The island's stunning location and challenging environment add to its beauty, but they also present certain risks. Why not make a day out of it by brining a pack lunch, no better place to enjoy a picnic! *Note, this is weather dependant, if conditions are not suitable on the day you have booked, you will be notified at the earliest opportunity and be issued a full refund* There is an excellent bus service from Stromness Travel Centre, Kirkwall Travel Centre to St Margaret's Hope Ferry Terminal where we are based.
